Predator Fishing In Spain
Predator fishing is a huge sport in Spain, especially Extremadura. There are no less than 8 of our local lakes, over 1600 km of bank side, that hold a large head of Predatory fish including the Comizo Barbel.
La Serena, Zujar, Orellana, Cijara and Garcia Sola are the main lakes we concentrate on however there are several more that are also teaming with predators
Fishing for Predators here has got to be the most exciting fishing about. All methods produce fish, from Vertical jigging to surface popping and vary throughout the seasons. We also fish certain methods to target specific species, however you don't know what the next take could result in, a Comizo Barbel, Carp, or Pike amongst others, we have even had Tench take our lures!!!
Extremadura Predator Fishing gives you the opportunity to fish these prolific venues from boat or float tube, otherwise known as a belly boat. Throughout the duration of your visit you will be taken to different areas of several lakes depending on target species, weather conditions, water levels etc.
Boat fishing is available in two options; Guided boat fishing (40hp 17ft Sundance Skiff and 50hp Kimple Bass Hunter 450) or drive yourself at your own leisure with our self drive boat fishing package with a 3.8m 15hp Cabri.

BARBEL There are 5 strains of Barbel here, including the legendary Comizo Barbel that grow to over 20kg, all of which are Predators, fantastic fishing from the Float tube...
BLACK BASS fishing is huge in America and other countries where they inhabit; No Wonder, it's exciting and full of action. Whilst fishing for them, tight up to snags, sunken trees, bushes and the like, the anticipation of a take as soon as your bait hits the water is exciting enough, but the fight they give is something else. They will jump, somersault, dive under the boat and at times even tail walk... its great sport on light tackle and what's more, they go to double figures here !!!!!!
PIKE have been caught to a staggering 30kg in the local area. Some lakes are stuffed with them, like the Orellana, with lots of sport fish. Two guests have taken over 100 Pike in 3 days from Float Tube and we have landed pike to over 35lb.
CHANNEL CATS go to well over 15kg and give a good account for themselves. Several of our local lakes contain these scavengers and our guests have landed Cats to over 12kg.
CARP, yes Carp, again a predator fish and these go to over 80lb here and have been regularly caught by Predator anglers. One guest landed 2 carp on a cold day in January on lure from a float tube and guide Craig has landed a common around 35lb.

Spoilt for choice is the only way to describe it here, these huge picturesque lakes, all different in their own way, have a huge head of fish to specimen size.
To give you an idea of the immense size of these lakes, lake Windermere is 3640-acre 14.73 km² and Grafham Water 1551-acre 6.28 km²

LA SERENA - The largest lake in the area at a staggering 140 km2 - 34468 acres.

Fantastic Barbel fishing on lures with fish to around 6lb, they even take surface baits. Lots of hits and great fun on light tackle, but be warned the Barbel go big in here. The up and coming Pike water, Pike have started to show more and more over the last 7 years or so, not the easiest of waters however it produces many 20lb plus Pike, we have had upper 30s and they go a lot bigger.

ORELLANA - 12016 acre 48.63 km2
Main target species - Black Bass, Pike and Comizo Barbel

Orellana is stuffed with Pike and Black Bass, if they are on the feed (or nest) you won’t stop.
The pike, like all lakes here, grow to specimen size, however its rammed with jacks and plenty of fish to double figures to keep you busy.
Black Bass go into double figures in Orellana, and theres a large head of smaller fish, great fun especially on the surface.
The big Comizo Barbel, nothing more to say except a fish of a life time. It’s not easy to catch one of these legendary fish, but with the right tactics and effort, its possible. We have had Comizo to 37lb on lure, and they go to well over 40lb.

Awesome fishing on this very picturesque lake with its steep cliffs and rocky hills towering over you. Big Bass competitions held on this lake. Depending on your quarry, its normally great fishing on Sola, its renowned for big pike and Black Bass, however you might get a surprise as Big Carp and Barbel show a lot of interest in lures.

ZUJAR - 11179 acre 45 km2
Main species Cat fish and Barbel.

This the smallest lake on the area for boat fishing, has a huge head of Barbel and catfish in it. The Black Bass and Pike go huge here, however their numbers are quite sparse.

CIJARA - 16222 acre 65.65 km2

Another awesome picturesque water on its day, it holds a healthy head of good fish, that’s why the major Bass competitions are held on here. Unfortunately, it’s the nearest lake to Madrid and gets pretty busy. 34 boat trailers at the main boat launch during the week, that’s without the many others on the bank and belly boat anglers.

Belly Boat - Float Tube Fishing

This style of fishing is exciting and full of action, however you are still able to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of being out on the lake. You can fish for all species of Predators from the Belly Boat, Pike to 15kg, Comizo Barbel to 16kg and Carp to 17KG have been landed in them.
If you are an angler, be it match, course, carp, predator or whatever, you will appreciate fishing from a tube. For those anglers that have never fished from a float tube - belly boat, check it out, you will love it.

Self Drive Boat

What better way is there to fish these fantastic lakes, other than to skipper a boat with our Self-Drive option.
A licence is not required to to drive our fully equipped 15hp Kimble Hunter. The 55lb Motorguide electric trolling motor, along with 2 x Lowrance Hook 7 GPS fish finders with mapping, make it easy to navigate these lakes safely. If you have never skippered a boat before, don’t worry, full training and instructions will be given on how to control the boats motors and use the fish finders, a guide will accompany you until you are totally confident. We even launch you at the lake so you don’t get your feet wet! Detailed maps of the lakes with highlighted areas are provided, - these show any non-navigable areas, productive areas to fish, features like rocks or underwater islands, and most importantly any dangers to watch out for. For larger groups, we have 2 x 15hp 3.8m Cabri Boats available, both fitted with electric trolling motor and fish finders. Remember that No licence is required to drive these boats, they are fully equipped, fully insured and have legal permissions for the lakes, life jackets and Walkie Talkies are provided.!!! Driver must be 18 yrs. Additional new 4 meter boat arriving soon. |

Guided Boat Fishing
There’s plenty of types of exciting Predator fishing to be had from the boat in these huge lakes.
Chill out and relax whilst our Guide takes you out to different fish holding spots and features.
Throughout the duration of your visit our experienced guide will take you out in either a 40hp 17ft Sundance Skiff or a 50hp Kimple Bass Hunter 450 fishing many different areas of several lakes depending on target species, weather conditions, water levels etc
Both boats have bow mounted trolling motor for manoeuvring whilst fishing, modern Humminbird Fishfinders with GPS.

Our Skiff is equipped with Humminbird 10 Side Imaging sonar and I Pilot link;- the boat’s trolling motor is controlled remotely via wifi or through the Humminbird unit. This spacious boat can carry up to 5 people, however we recommend only 2 anglers, as is the Kimble.
Boats are fully insured and have legal permissions for the lakes, life jackets are provided.!!!

Accommodation
Accommodation is in a typical Spanish 'Casa Rural' for those who have never lodged in this type of accommodation, it’s like a mix of a B&B and a self-catering house.
All rooms have TV, heating / air-con, free wifi, there is an open fire living room and even a terrace BBQ area. A basic continental buffet breakfast is also included in the package price.
Hotel upgrade is available on request.

Dining out is so cheap here, a 'Menu del dia' consists of a 3 course meal all for 8 euros including wine or water (12- 15 euros for the weekend special)
A wide range of inexpensive Spanish traditional dishes are available off the Menu, as is a huge 'T' bone steak.
